Description: This dataset contains locations of Mosquito ULV Zones for Polk County, FL current to 2009. Mosquito ULV Zone areas were derived by the Polk County Mosquito Control Division of the Natural Resource Department of Polk County BoCC in conjunction with Polk County GIS.The creation date is unknown.This dataset contains fields denoting areas of Mosquito ULV Zones, zone names, area #, and square footage.This data is meant to be used for planning purposes only and is not intended to represent a 100% inventory of Mosquito ULV Zones. Adulticiding is the act of killing adult mosquitoes. Using trucks and aircraft, a condensed plume of ultra low volume (ULV) insecticide is released into the air, which spreads out with the prevailing wind and adheres to the wings of the mosquitoes and kills them.The amount of chemical used is designed to be target specific, in that it kills mosquitoes without harming anything else. The data was revised in 2011 by Polk County Mosquito Control.
